My first Blue Marlin!!! A whopping 690.5 pounds!!!

I caught this in the Huggo's Wahine Tourny July 2008 on the "Bite Me 2".  Thanks to the expertise of the Captain and Crew we were able to get it boated in a mere 45 minutes.  We were hanging out on the bridge when all of a sudden Capt. Brian hollered out,"There it is and it's a nice one!!"  I said,"Oh my gosh..., I think I'm up!!"  I went downstairs and the line was screaming off the reel.  It was jumping all over the ocean and running out to sea.  Once things settled, the battle began.  I had to use the seesaw method in order to get any line back.  The fish and I went back and forth about 4 or 5 times until Capt. Brian said,"Don't let it get its head back! This is it!!"  So with all my remaining strength I kept it coming towards the boat.

Since this was a tournament we took the fish in to get weighed and ended up winning the most money in that Tournament.  Hurray!!
It was definately one of the best days ever and can't wait to do it again!
Way to go "Bite Me 2" Wahine crew!!!!!
We took the morning charter on the Bite Me I on April 8th 2009 and had a wonderful time. At about 7-7:30 am we caught on to what Captain Kevin Hiney, thought was a 900 pound Blue Marlin.  It jumped out of the water and we got a good at it, and that is how captain Kevin estimated the size. That one got off the line but we immediately we hooked another one, which we were able to pull to the boat and my friend Ron Brown tagged it efficiently and expertly as he was told. Kevin estimated that it was 625lbs. It took about 40 minutes to pull to the boat. Chad, our deck mate, said that it was the catch of a lifetime.  After pulling in the fish I was exhausted.  I took some pictures, but I hope that captain Hiney was able to get some better good pictutres that he could send to us.  I live in in Washington and I am aware of the dwinding natural resources of the ocean and I support catch and release for these rare, and evidently pregnant, big fish.  To top off the morning charter we trolled through the same area that we caught the Blue Marlin and caught a double hook up of two Big Eye Tunas.  My friend Ron Brown pulled inthe first one, that weighed out at 209lbs.  It took him about 30 minutes to pull in these very strong fish.  I kept the second fish hooked while Ron pulled in the first.  They boated, clubbed, gutted and bagged with ice this first fish, while I got in the chair to pull in the second fish.  Wew realized that this one was even bigger that the first.  It took another 30 to 40 minutes to pull in the second.  You could tell that the Captain and mate were excited by the catch.  We pulled in the second and were told how rare these huge Big Eye Tunas are.  We landed this fish and the two of us were exhausted and extatic about our wonderful luck of the morning catch.  Back at the boat dock the second fish weighed out at 223lbs, a record for 2009.  It was a wonderful first time with Bite Me boat and crew.  We tipped the boat crew and purchased a good share of your "Bite Me" hats and shirts from your store.  This fishing charter was the highlight of our trip.  Thanks, and I hope to see you again on my next trip to these wonderful islands.
